In a move to deepen global partnerships and enhance operational capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dispatched a delegation of three senior officers to the International Test Pilot School (ITPS) in Canada.
The delegation was led by Air Commodore A.H. Idris, Director of Training, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster the Service’s training standards and technological capacity.
The visit reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, to achieving smarter and more effective airpower delivery in counterinsurgency operations through advanced training, innovation, and international cooperation.
During the engagement, discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration between the NAF and ITPS, including basic flying training, maintenance personnel development, and aircraft engine and airframe overhauls. The team also explored prospects for cockpit upgrades aimed at improving mission efficiency, readiness, and safety.
The delegation held a series of productive meetings and toured ITPS’s training, maintenance, and administrative facilities to gain firsthand insight into the institution’s world-class methodologies and technical standards.
This visit, according to the NAF, underscores the Service’s proactive drive to leverage international expertise in pursuit of its transformation agenda — one anchored on building a professional, agile, and technology-driven Air Force capable of defending Nigeria’s airspace and safeguarding citizens.
