In its continuous drive to enhance combat readiness and tactical efficiency among troops, the Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army has inaugurated the Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course IX 2025 for subalterns and soldiers under command.
Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 3 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja noted in a press statement that the event took place on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, at the Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
Declaring the course open, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, represented by Brigadier General Okezim Omeni, Commander 103 Division Equipment Support, emphasized that the training aims to sharpen the soldiers’ tactical acumen, initiative, and weapon-handling skills for both day and night operations
He noted that the Basic Battle Course remains a critical platform for building combat proficiency in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force capable of accomplishing assigned missions within a joint environment.
Major General Oyinlola further stressed the significance of continuous training in maintaining operational effectiveness, urging participants to exhibit seriousness, discipline, and dedication throughout the program to achieve the desired results.
The GOC also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and consistent support for capacity development initiatives, which he described as the best form of welfare for Nigerian Army personnel.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General Nicodemus Awobi, outlined the objectives and structure of the course.
He explained that the program is designed to build competence in addressing contemporary security challenges, featuring new modules on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and advanced marksmanship to enhance the quality and relevance of the training.
The event was attended by formation and unit commanders, senior officers, and staff officers from 3 Division Headquarters and affiliated formations. It concluded with a group photograph to commemorate the inauguration.
