Tinubu Mourns Victims of Afriland Towers Fire, Urges Greater Safety Measures

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island, on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also commiserated with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, and Afriland Properties Limited over the devastating incident, which claimed lives and left several people injured.

President Tinubu expressed sympathy to the injured victims who are currently receiving medical care, praying for their quick recovery.

“The President extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, management and staff of Afriland Properties, FIRS, United Capital, and UBA, particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno,” the statement read.

Commending the swift response of emergency agencies, including the Federal Fire Service, medical teams, first aiders, and members of the public, President Tinubu lauded their courage and sense of duty in aiding evacuation efforts and preventing further casualties.

While mourning the dead, President Tinubu called for heightened safety measures, emphasizing the need for improved training, caution, and vigilance to prevent future tragedies of this nature.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for their grieving families.
