The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its fight against insecurity with a series of coordinated air operations targeting hostile elements across parts of Kwara State.
The missions, carried out on Sunday, September 28, 2025, were executed by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) Sector 3, focusing on Kakihun, Oke-Ode, Babanla, and surrounding areas.
According to a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, the operations involved reconnaissance flights and close air support missions aimed at deterring emerging threats and providing vital intelligence to ground forces.
“During the operations, hostile elements sighted east of Babanla were decisively engaged and neutralized. Concurrent surveillance flights were also conducted over key settlements and military positions to gather critical intelligence that will enhance ongoing counter-insurgency efforts,” the statement read.
Air Commodore Ejodame emphasized that all missions were completed successfully, with NAF maintaining air superiority in the area and sustaining relentless pressure on criminal groups threatening the peace and security of local communities.
He reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to protecting both troops and civilians, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Armed Forces through timely reporting of suspicious activities.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in defending the nation’s territorial integrity and will continue to take decisive actions to restore lasting peace and security across the country,” he assured.
The latest operations underscore the military’s proactive approach in combating insurgency and other forms of criminality in Kwara and neighboring states.
