The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ajao S. Adewale, Psc, mni, has met with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association to address rising communal clashes and tackle the issue of cattle Open Grazing in the heart of Abuja.
FCT Police Command, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a press statement said the meeting, held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, brought together leaders of the three major groups under the association — Miyetti Allah MACBAN, Miyetti Allah KAUTAHURI, and Miyetti Allah FALAKO YESU-YESU.
During the session, CP Adewale expressed deep concern over the frequent involvement of cattle breeders in communal conflicts across the territory. He stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, while issuing a stern warning that the practice of open grazing and cattle roaming within Abuja city centre would no longer be tolerated.
> “Our collective goal is to ensure the safety of lives and property while preserving the dignity of all communities. We will not allow practices that disrupt public order or threaten peace in the FCT,” CP Adewale stated.
In their response, the Miyetti Allah leaders lauded the police initiative, describing it as the first direct engagement between the FCT Commissioner of Police and their groups. They pledged full cooperation, promising to implement the resolutions reached and provide a progress report to the command within one week.
The FCT Police Command also assured residents that it would closely monitor compliance with the agreements reached, continue engaging relevant stakeholders on grazing land issues, and enhance community policing strategies to prevent future violence.
