The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has called on the 22 newly promoted Assistant Commandants General (ACGs) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to rededicate themselves to national service with greater diligence, patriotism, fairness, and integrity.
CSC Afolabi Babawale, the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.
Speaking through the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Correctional and Immigration Services Board (CDFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jubril (Rtd), the minister reminded the officers that promotion comes with higher responsibility and accountability.
“Promotion is a call to responsibility that comes with higher tasks, and accountability is required. I congratulate you on this elevation, but I must also urge you to justify the confidence reposed in you. You must live above expectations and mentor the next generation to sustain the legacies of the Corps,” Jubril stated.
In his remarks, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, mni, OFR, charged the senior officers to remain steadfast, loyal, and dedicated in confronting the nation’s emerging security challenges. He further advised them to lead with professionalism and integrity, particularly in guiding their subordinates.
Audi also commended the Interior Minister’s reforms, which he said have cleared backlogs of promotions and ended stagnation within the Corps. According to him, the minister’s support has strengthened the NSCDC’s operational capacity, enhanced personnel welfare, and deepened inter-agency collaboration.
The event also featured goodwill messages from senior representatives of the Nigeria Correctional Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps. The Oath of Allegiance was administered by the Officer in Charge of Legal, Commandant Bamiyo Akomolafe.
In a related development, the NSCDC Commandant General presented cheques worth ₦5 million to the families of two officers—CCA Anyamele Justice and AIC Bello Bako Musa—who lost their lives while on “Operation Plug” duty at Obiakpu Village, Abia State, on February 25, 2025.
Audi described the gesture as part of ongoing welfare initiatives to support the families of fallen personnel who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
