The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reassured lawmakers from Katsina State of the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to restoring peace and security in the state.
He gave this assurance when he received a delegation of Katsina State National Assembly members, led by Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’Adua, Chairman Senate Committee on Army, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
General Musa emphasized that the military remains resolute in tackling the security challenges facing the region and will continue to work closely with political leaders, relevant stakeholders, and local communities to ensure lasting stability and protection of lives and property.
Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement, disclosed that the lawmakers commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Katsina State and the nation at large. They also paid tribute to fallen heroes who, they said, made invaluable contributions in the fight to defend Nigeria.
The legislators briefed the CDS on emerging security concerns in the state and called for the deployment of more troops and military assets to tackle the challenges.
Responding, General Musa thanked the delegation for their solidarity with the Armed Forces and assured them of the military’s continued collaboration with the National Assembly to enhance security operations across the country. He also revealed that newer tactics and strategies have been deployed to effectively counter evolving threats, with the ultimate goal of restoring peace and stability nationwide.
The visit, the statement added, highlights the shared commitment of the Armed Forces and the National Assembly to protecting citizens and safeguarding the nation from insecurity.
