The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has announced the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Jimmy Ejim Jnr as the new General Manager of Radio Nigeria, Gift FM, Jalingo, Taraba State. The appointment, approved by the Director-General of FRCN, Dr. Muhammed Bulama, FNIPR takes effect from August 1, 2025.
Fondly known as "Jimmy" by colleagues and friends, Mr. Ejim brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as FRCN's Defence and Security Correspondent for over a decade. His elevation is widely seen as a recognition of his professional excellence, particularly in security and defence reportage—a beat he has covered with distinction and commitment.
A native of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State, Jimmy Ejim’s background is firmly rooted in both military and media service. He began his career in the Nigerian Navy through the Direct Short Service Course in 1995, serving with the Naval Operations Directorate in Lagos and the Directorate of Military Intelligence, now known as the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA). He also received specialized security training in Texas, USA, and the Black Sea region of Crimea, Ukraine.
During his time in military service, Mr. Ejim studied Mass Communication, laying the foundation for his eventual transition into journalism. In 2007, following his voluntary retirement from the Navy, he joined the FRCN as an Editor and Reporter. Over the years, he has become a respected voice in national security reporting.
Mr. Ejim holds a Master of Science degree in International Security Management from Atlantic International University, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He is also an esteemed member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration, and a Fellow of the International Security Academy, Tel Aviv, Israel (FISA).
The appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Jimmy Ejim is seen as a step toward strengthening the station's leadership and furthering its mission to inform, educate, and entertain the people of Taraba State and beyond.
