The Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Borno State Command, Mukhtar Musa, has commended the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) for its commitment and efforts in restoring peace across the North East region, the Theatre Spokesperson, Captain Reuben Kovangiya said in a statement on Friday.
He gave the commendation when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Theatre Commander OPHK Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar at headquarters Theatre Command Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, today, 10 July 2025.
Comptroller Mukhtar stated that on assumption of office as Comptroller of Borno State Command, he deemed it necessary to make it a point of call to first visit the Theatre Commander and appreciate him for the good works and sacrifices of the military, in keeping the North East region safe.
He used the medium to seek stronger collaboration and synergy with the military, to ensure the protection of the territorial integrity of the nation. The Comptroller further noted that the NIS was ready and willing to complement the efforts of the military and contribute its quota in ensuring peace in the North East region.
While remarking, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, thanked the Comptroller for the visit and expressed delight at making Headquarters OPHK his first point of call. He assured him that the Nigerian military will continue to synergise and collaborate with the NIS and other stakeholders, which is in line with the command philosophies of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs, to achieve the objectives of OPHK.
General Abubakar added that the Nigerian military can not solve the security challenges alone, stressing that all hands must be on deck, considering the nature of the threats. He further acknowledged the pivotal roles the NIS and other security agencies play in the Theatre of Operations.
Present during the visit were the Deputy Theatre Commander, Component Commanders, Chief of Staff Theatre Command and other senior officers at Headquarters OPHK, while the Comptroller was accompanied by Deputy Comptrollers and other senior officers of the Command.
