The Igbeba Police Township Anti-Robbery Patrol Team has explained a viral video of the minor motor accident which occurred along Molipa Express, Molipa, Ijebu Ode involving a police pick up vehicle with REG. NO. NPF 9630 C and one Toyota Camry, ash colour, with REG NO. LSR 59 HS LAGOS driven by one mechanic apprentice.
According to the DPO Obalende Division who reported the Minor Motor Accident on Wednesday 17/05/2023 at about 1200hrs the Toyota Camry was coming from Ogbogbo Area of Ijebu Ode and while in motion hit one motorcyclist, failed to stop and was being trailed by civilians, some of who went to Igbeba Police Division to report the incident.
He said, the Igbeba Police Township Anti-Robbery Patrol Team was informed of the development and was out to apprehend the vehicle in question if seen. The vehicle was eventually intercepted while trying to escape.
"The team in pursuit then informed their counterpart Igbeba anti-crime police patrol team to cordon (block) the road in order to apprehend the driver who, having sighted a police vehicle in his front, became apprehensive and intentionally wanted to clear his way by ramming the police vehicle and thus escape.
"That action resulted in both vehicles colliding. The DPO visited the accident scene and confirmed that no life was lost. He also confirmed that the driver of the Camry car did not sustain any visible injury.
"The police patrol men led by Inspr Amos Anibaba also did not sustain serious injury from the accident but were seriously assaulted by the miscreants around who wanted to take advantage of the incident to damage the police patrol van but for the DPO’s quick intervention as he was able to disperse them."he said.
The two vehicles were thereafter evacuated to the Police Station. Meanwhile obstructions were cleared, and normalcy has since been returned to the area. Presently, the Motor Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
