100,000 Vehicles, 4,200 Boats to Convey Over 1m INEC Personnel, Materials Nationwide - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it will require over One Hundred Thousand Vehicles and Four Thousand Two Hundred Boats to convey Over One million personnel and materials for the conduct of the 2023 general election.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who stated this during the signing of memorandum of understanding MOU with Road Transport and Marine Workers Unions said prompt delivery of personnel and logistics was necessary for credible conduct of the polls.

While appealing to the Union Leaders to abide strictly to terms of agreement and avoid partisan politics, the INEC chairman said all the vehicles and boats shall be tracked electronically to ensure that election personnel and materials are not hijacked or diverted.

Professor Yakubu however appealed to political actors to call their supporters to order and avoid vandalism arising from violence and thuggery during the elections.

Speaking during the event, President, National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa commended INEC for the introduction of a new technology that would strengthen democratic governance in the country.

Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa pledged the Union’s readiness to contribute towards the successful conduct of the 2023 Elections.

Development partners and other transport union leaders in their separate messages pledged to ensure vivid supervision of transport Workers for prompt delivery of personnel and election materials to all

Electoral Wards and the One Hundred and Seventy Six Thousand Eight hundred and forty Six Polling Units across the country.
