The General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Waidi Shaibu has charged media organizations to disseminate media contents that will impact positively to the present security situation in the Northeast and promote peace and unity amongst citizens.
Maj Gen Shaibu made this call while interacting with delegates from Dandal Kura Radio International on a courtesy visit to the Division Headquarters today Wednesday, 20 April, 2022. The delegates were warmly received by the GOC and other senior officers of the Division in the GOC'S office.
The Executive Director, Dandal Kura Radio International, Mrs. Rahamatu Zakari Bello congratulated the GOC for the successes recorded in the fight against terrorism in the North East.
She disclosed that since the establishment of the independent radio station, they have partnered with the military in different media operation so as to counter misleading narratives of the Boko Haram/Islamic State of West African Province terrorists, encouraged surrendering of terrorists and sensitized the public on military operations and the need for information sharing.
While recounting on her previous collaboration with the Military especially, during Operation SAFE CORRIDOR, Mrs Rahamatu further solicited for more support and synergy with the Division in order to promote and enhance the dissemination of information geared towards peace building and restoration of normalcy to the region.
Gen Waidi expressed delight in the interest of the radio station to continue to support the Division through its broadcast content. In his words, "the media is a key player in the non-kinetic approach employed in winning the war against insurgency in the Northeast".
He also assured the media organization of the Division's support in seeing that they function effectively with little or no set backs especially in the area of security.
Present during the visit is the Chief of Staff Headquarters 7 Division Brigadier General SY Yakasai, Delegates of Dandal Kura Radio International, Formation and Unit Commanders, Principal Staff Offiicers and other senior officers of the Division.
