The Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association, Guards Brigade Chapter has conducted a community outreach for children, widows and orphans in the Brigade's Area of Responsibility in commemoration of Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2021.
In a statement signed by Guards Brigade, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Captain Ayobami David Oni Orisan and made available to SpyeTV on Sunday, the outreach took place on 3rd July 2021, at 177 Guards Battalion, Shittu Alao Barracks and Ground Orphanage Home in Keffi LGA.
The spokesperson added that the Zonal Coordinator of NAOWA Guards Brigade Chapter, Pharmacist( Mrs) Rakiya Usman, led other members to donated food items, educational materials and other basic essentials to children and widows of deceased personnel at the Shittu Alao barracks, home of 177 Guards.
According to the statement, Mrs Rakiya Usman disclosed that the outreach was conducted in line with the directive of the National President NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya to all coordinators to reach out to the less privileged.
"She also added that the outreach was organized to enable her interact with widows and children, particularly children of deceased personnel living in the barracks", he said
"This she said will go a long way in encouraging them, as well as taking care of some of their challenges", he added.
The highlight of the event was the donation of food items, educational materials and other basic essentials to the widows, children of deceased personnel and orphanage homes by the Zonal Coordinator of NAOWA Guards Brigade Chapter and members of her entourage.
