The camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
Ondo State may soon be depleted as the former
Governorship candidate of the party, Chief Olusola
Oke and other prominent leaders are expected to
announce their defection to the All Progressives
Congress (APC) on Tuesday (Tomorrow).
Since the defection of Governor Olusegun Mimiko to
PDP from Labour Party (LP), the party has been in
disarray, which later affected its performance in the
just concluded Presidential and National Assembly
polls.
Despite plea from the National leader of the party,
President Goodluck Jonathan that Oke and Mimiko
must unite together, the duo operated parallel rallies
for Jonathan’s re-elections.
Oke’s camp has been unhappy over the imposition
of candidates on them by Mimiko immediately after
he decamped to the party.
Sources told Daily Post that Oke and other
prominent leaders have concluded arrangement with
National Leaders of APC on their defections.
“There is going to be major crack in PDP, it is not
because these people want to leave their party but
due to the way Mimiko treated them when he
defected.
“What are you expecting from a party that failed to
protect your interest? You will not be sincere to
work for such party’s victory. I know by now
President Goodluck Jonathan must have learnt his
lesson and also regretting that he imposed Mimiko
on us”, one of the members stated.
