Special Announcement: Ebola Virus: Avoid Burial Ceremonies & Washing Dead Bodies, WHO Warns Nigerians & Others

The World Health Organization(WHO) has warned citizens in the West African countries against gathering at venues of burial ceremonies so as to curtail the spread of Ebola Virus Disease. In a series of tweets, WHO stated that, “An #Ebola-infected person is very contagious (has high level of virus in his/her body) at a later stage of the infection (when really sick). The highest #Ebola virus level is found in a dead body, hence currently the highest risk of Ebola transmission is during burial ceremony. Some religious beliefs require dead body to be washed. As #Ebola virus level is highest in dead body, this is highest source of transmission.”
