Governor Rauf Aregbesola and former Goveror Isiaka Adeleke, have threatened to deal with any security agent deploy to intimidate them or other leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The duo spoke in Ejigbo on Monday at the mega rally of the party which also had Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, in attendance.
The rally was held after the governor had attended a programme in Osogbo where parents of public primary school and secondary school students in the state declared their support for his second term ambition.
The State Chairman of the Parents, Teachers Association, Dr. Ademola Ekundayo, who spoke on behalf of the over 200,000 estimated parents in the state, said the parents endorsed Aregbesola based on his achievements in the education sector in his first term in office.
Adeleke, who was the first to speak at the rally in Ejigbo, said that those who wanted to take over government in Osun State had concluded plans to arrest him three days to the election but he said that they should take a leaf from security personnel who faced the Agbekoya in 1969.
He urged the people of the state to vote and protect their votes while encouraging them to stay back and watch their votes to prevent them from being stolen by election robbers.
Adeleke said, “ They said they would arrest me three days before the election. It is impossible. I was at Ogbomoso Grammar School in 1969 and those who tried such during the Agbekoya time could not remove their uniforms.
“The uniforms were glued to their skin. What was used then is the very much around so they should beware.”
He urged the people of in Osun-West senatorial district to troop out on August 9 and vote for Aregbesola.
Aregbesola told the crowd that the PDP had been threatening to deploy a large number of security personnel for the Osun poll.
He, however, said he believed the security agents who would be deployed would come to protect the people of the state and ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order.
