Management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has reacted to the allegation by the national leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Biyi Daramola acted uncultured during a courtesy visit to him.
SSANU National Vice President, who doubles as the Chairman, Western Zone of the Union, Comrade Alfred Jimoh, had accused Vice Chancellor of the institution of avoiding peaceful dialogue that could promote industrial relations in the institution. According to Jimoh, the VC disgraced him and his team last Friday, when they met and tabled some issues affecting SSANU members.
Daily Post report that, Part of the issues he said included the non payment of the salaries of those who were demoted, terminated and later recalled in 2012. The Zonal Chairman said just as he tried to appeal for payment for the affected staff, Prof Daramola shouted the ordeals down.
“Whenever we are holding our meeting in any institution, we always deem it fit to interface with the head and management team of the institution,” he explained.
“With that respect, we paid a visit to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure. But we were amazed that he is not fit to occupy the office of the Vice Chancellor, going by his personality.
“We barely mentioned any of these issues that took us to his office before he started shouting. The Vice Chancellor does not have the patience to listen to union leaders to express their views, to the point that he was shouting us down. The vice chancellor was banging the table and shouting like an uneducated man.
