Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Bieber release new tunes
Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are edging in on Justin Bieber's #MusicMondays.
For the past few weeks, Bieber has been dutifully releasing a new song every Monday as part of a 10-week series that's leading up to the December 25 release of his new documentary, "Believe." First came "Heartbreaker," then "All That Matters," and now the sultry "Hold Tight":
But the Canadian singer wasn't the only artist sending Twitter into a frenzy over new tunes.
Lady Gaga, whose next album is due to drop November 11, also picked October 21 to offer up her own fresh single, a collaboration with R. Kelly called "Do What U Want."
"You can't have my heart, and you won't use my mind, but do what you want with my body. You can't stop my voice 'cause you don't own my life, but do what you want with my body," Gaga triumphantly sings on the track.
In case the song's message of rising above critical attacks gets muddled over the beat, the "ARTPOP" artist drove the point home on Twitter, where she rattled off a series of negative statements directed at her along with a response:
While Gaga has been battling her detractors, Taylor Swift has been reveling in a sweeter state of mind.
The 23-year-old country pop star has also released a new single, one that sounds like it was written after a marathon of John Hughes '80s classics.
Called "Sweeter than Fiction," Swift firmly swerves into pop territory on the song, which she wrote with fun.'s Jack Antonoff. "Sweeter Than Fiction" will be featured on the upcoming U.K. biopic "One Chance," about "Britain's Got Talent" champ Paul Potts.
