A Zuba Grade 1 Area Court in the FCT has sentenced four men and four women to three months imprisonment each for constituting a public nuisance. The convicts are Martins Ofrom, 45; Barnabas Ebene, 22’ Ezekiel Ebebe, 62; Chukwuma Augustine, 48; Sarah John, 23; Maryam Abdulkarim, 21; Precious Ene, 21 and Blessing Simon, 20, all of Tunga Maje in the FCT. The presiding judge, Alhassan Kusherki, who passed the judgment after the convict had pleaded guilty, said the court was lenient with them because ``they are first time offenders’’ Kusherki, however, gave them an option to pay N15,000 fine each. Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Haruna Danlami, had told the court that on May 27, a team of police officers attached to the Zuba Police Division, led by Cpl. Alimo Dubi, who were on patrol,  arrested the convicts at ``a black spot’’. Danlami said that none of the convicts could give a satisfactory account of themselves when they were interrogated. The prosecutor said that their actions amounted to a public nuisance and an offence, which contravened the provisions of Section 183 of the Penal Code.
