Sorrow and anguish are today the lot of an 85-year-old mother who
witnessed the death of her beloved son, who should have been alive to
give her a befitting burial when her days were over. Hajiya Zulaihat
experienced the most incredible agony of motherhood when unknown gunmen
shot and killed her son, SP Dahiru Musa Majiya, who was the Commander of
Mobile Police Squadron 9, located in Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.SP Dahiru Musa Majiya was, on Monday night, trailed to his private residence at Layin Transformer in Sabuwar Gandu by assailants who came in a car. Late SP Majiya was killed some minutes after 7pm, according to eyewitness.
“I heard several gunshots and knew immediately that something was wrong. It was one of those gunshots that killed my son. What an evil world we are living in today. They just cut short the life of my and you expect me to be OK? The pain is too much to bear! His children and I were the first to see his dead body lying in cold blood. The gunshots were so close and loud. We were scared to our bone marrows; we didn’t know that any of us had been affected.
“My son was the family’s breadwinner. He lost his wife three months ago; now I am left alone with the children. He just remarried 10 days ago. They have no mother, no father. My pain is that I am too old at my age to adequately cater for these children. The thing is, Dahiru was my only child. You can now understand my pain and agony. The state and federal government should employ all instruments at disposal to bring the perpetrators to book, vengeance is for Allah,” Hajiya Zulaihat lamented.
SP Majiya lost his wife late Maimuna in December last year, the mother of his four children, Zulaihat (Ummi), Khairat, Fatima and an eight month child Ibrahim.
According to her, her son was a kind of obedient, honest and god-fearing from childhood which earned him numerous admirers, a virtue he imbibed until death.
Dahiru’s brother in-law told our reporter that the mother was so bold and courageous as she withheld tears and brought her emotions under control. She grabbed the corpse when they were about taking it for burial. She was asked to let go since she believed in destiny and she obediently let go.
Meanwhile, Kano command Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, who was also a cousin to late SP Dahiru, revealed that he had a phone conversation with his brother few hours before he was killed.
