Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have raided a settlement in Gongoro, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, arresting two suspected herders and recovering a motorcycle following an attack on a military checkpoint.
The operation, conducted at about 8:00 a.m. on November 1, 2026, involved troops of Sector 6 OPEP, working in collaboration with a DSOF team, EIB Stratoc, other security operatives and local vigilantes.
Security sources disclosed that the raid followed an attack on troops at the Angwan Boka military checkpoint on October 31, during which the suspected assailants reportedly withdrew from the area with some weapons.
The operation was subsequently launched to track down the fleeing attackers and recover the weapons allegedly taken during the incident.
During the raid, troops apprehended two suspected herders and recovered one motorcycle.
The suspects have since been taken into military custody, while efforts are ongoing to locate the missing weapons and apprehend other individuals linked to the attack.
Meanwhile, troops have sustained security operations across the area to track down the fleeing assailants, recover military property and prevent further security breaches.
