Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attack by suspected terrorists along the Sokoto–Gusau Main Supply Route (MSR), killing several bandits and rescuing a civilian during a swift military response around Kuka Mairaho Village.
The incident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on November 1, 2026, when troops deployed at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Fangaltama and Gidan Kano received reports of gunshots around the village, raising concerns over the presence of armed terrorist elements in the area.
Security sources disclosed that upon receiving the alert, the troops immediately mobilised towards the location and engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The superior firepower and coordinated response of the soldiers reportedly forced the attackers to retreat in disarray, with several of the armed fighters neutralised during the encounter.
Following the engagement, the troops conducted an exploitation operation across the general area to assess the situation, track down fleeing terrorists and ensure that no other threats remained within the vicinity.
During the operation, one civilian was successfully rescued from the area and subsequently taken into military custody for further action.
The successful response underscores the importance of sustained military presence and rapid intervention in protecting critical supply routes and surrounding communities from terrorist attacks.
Meanwhile, troops have continued to maintain security along the Sokoto–Gusau Main Supply Route and adjoining communities to prevent further attacks, protect road users and deny armed groups freedom of movement.
The Nigerian Army is expected to sustain its operational activities in the area as efforts continue to strengthen security and safeguard civilians along the strategic route.
