The Air Component of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, has neutralised more than 40 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, including a prominent commander, in a precision air strike on a terrorist enclave at Badu Village, south of Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, conducted on 10 October 2026, also destroyed two vehicles and approximately 20 motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility, logistics and offensive operations.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the air strike followed credible intelligence indicating that ISWAP fighters were assembling to launch coordinated attacks against troops operating within Sector 3’s area of responsibility.
According to him, the Air Component swiftly deployed targeted aerial surveillance to monitor terrorist movements around suspected hideouts and logistics facilities before executing a precision strike on a building occupied by the fighters.
He said preliminary human intelligence and battle damage assessment indicated that more than 40 terrorists, including a prominent ISWAP Qaid (commander), were neutralised during the operation.
The destruction of the vehicles and motorcycles is expected to further undermine the group’s mobility, logistical support and capacity to coordinate attacks against military positions and surrounding communities.
Further intelligence revealed that the terrorists belonged to ISWAP’s Murabitun element, a specialised mobile fighting unit reportedly responsible for patrols, attack coordination and sustaining terrorist activities within the area.
The military said the destruction of the enclave and its associated operational assets represents a significant setback to ISWAP’s operational capacity and its ability to sustain terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region.
The operation underscores the importance of intelligence-led surveillance, precision air power and coordinated military action in disrupting terrorist networks, degrading their operational capabilities and denying them freedom of action.
Operation Hadin Kai continues to conduct operations aimed at neutralising terrorist threats, protecting military formations and improving security across the North-East region.
