The Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence capabilities through technological innovation, intelligence-driven operations and strategic partnerships with the private sector.

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), stated this on Tuesday at a Dell Technologies programme themed “Innovate with Data,” held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Musa, who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Technology and Innovation, Air Vice Marshal Bulus, said the Ministry’s vision was anchored on three operational pillars: enhancing joint operational synergy, improving the welfare and morale of Armed Forces personnel, and promoting intelligence-driven, technology-enabled defence.

He described the third pillar as critical to preparing Nigeria’s defence sector for the future, noting that emerging security challenges required the effective integration of technology, intelligence and innovation.

According to him, the Ministry is taking deliberate steps to harness emerging technologies through partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including a two-day technology workshop organised in collaboration with Dell Technologies.

The Minister said the collaboration reflected the Ministry’s commitment to working with credible private-sector partners with proven global expertise and a demonstrated commitment to local content development.

He stressed that local participation and indigenous capacity building remained essential to achieving sustainable growth in Nigeria’s defence industry.

Musa expressed optimism that the knowledge gained, partnerships established and outcomes of the workshop would contribute significantly to strengthening the Ministry’s capabilities and advancing Nigeria’s national security objectives.

The programme concluded with a presentation on Dell Technologies’ solutions and their potential applications within the Ministry of Defence.

The presentation highlighted the company’s unified, one-stop-shop and end-to-end technology platforms, which are designed to enable the Ministry to respond more swiftly and effectively to operational missions.

The press statement was signed by Enderline Chukwu, Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence.
