The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public trust and community relations through sustained engagement with religious leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to enhance security across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, restated the commitment on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when he received the Spiritual Director of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Odùmẹjẹ, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Awka.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Police and the religious community in the collective pursuit of peace, security and harmonious coexistence.
CP Nnanna emphasised that effective policing depends on public cooperation, mutual trust and strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
He noted that religious leaders play influential roles in society and can contribute significantly to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, responsible conduct and the promotion of public safety.
The police commissioner reiterated the Command’s readiness to sustain constructive engagements with religious organisations and community-based institutions, stressing that such partnerships would encourage credible intelligence sharing, peaceful coexistence and respect for the rule of law.
He assured residents that the Command would continue to uphold professionalism, accountability and people-oriented policing while encouraging members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist in preventing crime and identifying potential security threats.
According to him, the Command’s security strategy goes beyond law enforcement to include dialogue, stakeholder collaboration and proactive public engagement, which he described as essential to addressing community concerns and building public confidence.
The visit featured prayers offered by Odùmẹjẹ, further underscoring the importance of collaboration between the Police and religious institutions in promoting peace and security across Anambra State.
