Police Arrest 44 Suspects, Rescue 3 Abducted Victims, Recover Firearms, Weapons in Nationwide Operations

The Nigeria Police Force has reported the arrest of at least 44 suspects, rescue of three abducted victims and recovery of firearms, illicit substances and other exhibits in operational activities across several states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the Force Executive Summary for September 29, 2026, police operatives recorded successes in Delta, Lagos, Kogi, Anambra, Bauchi, FCT, Ogun, Taraba, Jigawa, Bayelsa and Zamfara states.

In Delta State, one suspected armed robber was arrested after sustaining a gunshot injury during a response to an armed robbery and cable vandalism incident in Asaba. Police recovered a machete, plier, iron rod and armoured cable. Six suspects were also arrested in separate anti-crime operations, while 19 vehicles, two tricycles and a motorcycle were impounded.

In Lagos, six suspected armed robbers were arrested in separate operations, while two suspects were apprehended in connection with a murder case in Ajah. Police recovered two cutlasses, a suspected stolen television, ₦2.5 million and three mobile phones.

Meanwhile, police in Anambra State arrested 13 suspects during a raid on criminal hideouts in Okpoko, recovering suspected cannabis and other illicit substances as well as six motorcycles. In Bauchi, a 16-year-old abducted boy was rescued and one suspect arrested.

In Kogi, joint security forces rescued an abducted male victim unhurt after sustained bush-combing operations, while efforts continued to apprehend the fleeing abductors. In Taraba, one suspect was arrested with a locally made single-barrel gun.

The police also recovered a locally fabricated pistol from a bush in Ogun State, while operations continued to apprehend suspects linked to the discovery. In Jigawa, police responded to an attack on a Special Constabulary personnel and his wife, evacuating both injured victims to hospital and recovering 20 arrows.

In Bayelsa, police rescued and evacuated an injured victim following an armed robbery incident in Agbura Community, Yenagoa. In Zamfara, tactical teams responded to a bandit attack along the Gusau-Funtua Federal Highway, evacuating four gunshot victims while joint security forces continued efforts to rescue abducted persons and arrest the perpetrators.

The Force said the various cases remain under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
