Gubernatorial candidates in Adamawa State have signed a Peace Accord ahead of the 2027 General Elections, pledging to support peaceful, issue-based and violence-free campaigns.
The accord was signed at the Government House in Yola, where party chairmen, candidates and other key stakeholders gathered under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, led members of the ICCES and reaffirmed the commitment of security agencies to providing a safe and secure environment for political activities across the state.
Hassan assured political parties and candidates that security agencies would remain professional, impartial and firm in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, while providing a level playing field for all participants.
He urged political parties, candidates, supporters and residents to respect the terms of the accord and shun violence, hate speech, vote-buying, intimidation and other acts capable of disrupting peace in the state.
The CP also advised stakeholders with grievances to seek redress through lawful and legitimate channels.
