Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division Garrison and 103 Battalion have recovered four AK-47 rifles, seven magazines and 133 rounds of ammunition from a hideout belonging to a suspected kidnapping syndicate in Udi Forest, Enugu State.
The recovery followed a follow-up operation conducted after troops rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested a logistics supplier and two suspected kingpins of the criminal network terrorising parts of Enugu, Abia, Anambra and neighbouring states.
The operation was carried out on Monday, August 10, between 10:34 a.m. and 4:35 p.m. at Umuchingu Ujenike Forest, where the suspects were said to have concealed their weapons and ammunition.
Two of the arrested suspects reportedly assisted the troops in locating the forest hideout used by the syndicate to store its arms and ammunition.
At the location, the troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, seven AK-47 magazines and 133 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The latest recovery is expected to strengthen ongoing investigations into the activities, logistics and wider networks of the kidnapping syndicate operating across Enugu and neighbouring states.
Security forces have continued to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, recovering illicit weapons and disrupting the logistics that enable kidnapping and other violent crimes.
