Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have intensified ongoing operations across Plateau State, rescuing two kidnapped victims in separate operations conducted in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas.
The operation, according to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, is part of deliberate efforts to deny terrorist elements freedom of action across the state.
On Tuesday, 25 August 2026, troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa Local Government Area acted on credible intelligence regarding the abduction of one Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo. The troops immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation, leading to the successful rescue of the victim.
Similarly, in the early hours of Wednesday, 26 August 2026, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa Village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol.
The troops aggressively pursued the fleeing suspects, leading to the rescue of another kidnapped victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was abandoned by his captors.
Both victims were successfully debriefed and reunited with their families.
The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive posture in disrupting criminal activities and proactively restoring peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and cautious while continuing to support security agencies with credible information to enable the troops achieve their mandate of restoring lasting peace in the area.
