Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, disclosed this in a state-by-state executive summary of police operational successes for August 4, 2026.

According to the statement, the operations were carried out in Ogun, Enugu, Plateau, Oyo, Delta, Benue and Katsina states.

In Ogun State, intelligence-led operations conducted between August 3 and 4 led to the arrest of a suspected fraudster and abductor allegedly linked to multiple victims across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.

Police also rescued 16 abducted foreign nationals from a hideout in Onipanu-Ota and recovered a Malian international passport. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the principal suspect, while the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, is investigating the case.

In Enugu State, joint security operatives rescued two kidnap victims unharmed following an encounter with their abductors. Fifteen rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, mobile phones, cash and other exhibits were recovered from the suspects’ hideout.

The rescued victims received medical attention before being reunited with their families.

In Plateau State, police operatives arrested two suspects linked to a kidnapping incident and recovered an AK-47 rifle alongside 30 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. Security operatives are pursuing other suspects who fled the scene.

Similarly, in Oyo State, three suspected armed robbers and cultists were arrested during a stop-and-search operation. Police recovered a locally fabricated pistol and an axe from the suspects.

In a separate operation in the state, joint security personnel rescued a kidnap victim unharmed after confronting the abductors.

In Delta State, police arrested a suspect over the alleged rape of a pregnant woman. The victim was taken for medical examination and treatment, while the SCID in Asaba is investigating the case.

Police in Benue State also arrested three foreign nationals following intelligence indicating their alleged involvement in clandestine activities. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, in Katsina State, police operatives foiled a cattle-rustling operation after confronting armed bandits. The suspects fled, while three rustled cows were recovered.

Police said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects.

The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing through the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
