The Nigeria Police Force has recorded the arrest of 66 suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and suspected illicit drugs in coordinated operations across Kano, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ekiti and Ogun States.
The operational successes, contained in the State-by-State Executive Summary released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, covered incidents recorded between August 11 and 12, 2026.
In Kano State, police operatives acting on intelligence and surveillance intercepted 11 suspected drug peddlers in Sabon Gari on August 11. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of 60 capsules of Pregabalin, five tablets of Diazepam, 10 tablets of Extol and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
In the FCT, coordinated raids on black spots, criminal hotspots and uncompleted buildings across various divisions resulted in the arrest of 52 suspects on August 12. Police said quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs and knives were recovered during the operations.
Also on August 12, police operatives in Ekiti State arrested two suspects during a stop-and-search operation along University Road, Iyin-Ekiti. The suspects were travelling on an unregistered motorcycle. One live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs were recovered, while subsequent searches of their residences led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun.
In Ogun State, police arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged defilement of a 17-year-old girl at Warewa. The victim was rescued and taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The police said investigations into the cases are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments and Divisional Commands.
The Force reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led policing, crime prevention and the protection of citizens, urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
