Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves in separate operations across Kaduna and Katsina States.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to him, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible information on August 27, 2026, apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State.

The suspect was found in possession of two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the suspect had been tasked with delivering the weapons and ammunition to another individual.

Acting on information provided by the suspect, the troops immediately launched a follow-up operation, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects allegedly connected with the movement of the weapons.

The three suspects, alongside the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.

In a separate operation on August 28, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures allegedly being used by terrorists to facilitate their criminal activities.

Danja said troops also targeted an enclave linked to a notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has reportedly terrorised residents of Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

He said the terrorist leader narrowly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave.

Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items.

The troops subsequently conducted further fighting patrols within the general area to consolidate the gains of the operation and deny the terrorists freedom of action.

The Joint Task Force said the latest successes demonstrate the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny terrorists access to enclaves across its Joint Operations Area.

It reaffirmed its commitment to coordinated and intelligence-driven operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities.
