The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has opened a Training Course for Trainers and Instructors of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) at the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State, with a charge on participants to strengthen operational readiness and tactical competence.
The training was formally declared open on Friday, 28 August 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen instructional capacity, sharpen tactical skills and enhance the operational readiness of the Nigeria Police Force’s 84 PMF Squadrons.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the programme brought together selected PMF trainers and instructors from across the country.
The event was attended by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada; the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force, AIG Alonyenu Idu; the Commandant of the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills, DCP Sunday Audu Peter; the Nasarawa State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru; as well as commandants of other PMF Training Colleges.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who was briefly present at the ceremony, congratulated the IGP on his leadership and efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force.
In his remarks, AIG Alonyenu commended the IGP for his commitment to repositioning the PMF, saying the training would further motivate personnel to uphold the operational reputation of the Force’s tactical strike arm.
Addressing the participants, IGP Disu described the programme as a strategic intervention in the operational future of the PMF, stressing that the evolving security environment requires continuous learning, adaptation, discipline and tactical competence.
He charged the trainers and instructors to become force multipliers by ensuring that the knowledge acquired during the course is effectively transferred to personnel in their respective formations.
The IGP further emphasised that the modern PMF must combine tactical capability with intelligence, precision, discipline, professionalism and respect for the law, while making operational readiness a continuous culture.
He urged the participants to focus not merely on obtaining certificates but on developing practical competence that would translate into improved operational performance.
The ceremony also featured tactical displays and practical demonstrations by personnel undergoing the training, showcasing their skills, discipline and operational capabilities.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional training, modernisation, personnel welfare and the provision of necessary tools and platforms to strengthen operational effectiveness and ensure that the Police Mobile Force remains a disciplined, agile and dependable tactical force in the protection of lives and property across the country.
