The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has been honoured with the Distinguished Personality Award at the National Defence College (NDC) Course 34 Graduation Dinner and Awards Night held in Abuja.
The award was presented on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in recognition of the COAS’s distinguished leadership and commitment to strengthening professional military education, defence research and innovation in support of Nigeria’s national security objectives.
The recognition also underscored the importance of translating operational experience, research and innovation into enhanced military capability and more effective responses to evolving security challenges.
Lieutenant General Shaibu’s honour further highlights the enduring partnership between the Nigerian Armed Forces and defence research institutions in building a more professional, adaptive and capability-driven force capable of addressing contemporary and emerging security threats.
The NDC Course 34 Graduation Dinner and Awards Night brought together senior military officers, government officials, members of the diplomatic community and other distinguished guests to celebrate the achievements of the graduating participants and personalities who have made significant contributions to national development and defence advancement.
