The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has commended continued support for the families of fallen military and police personnel, describing it as a reflection of the nation’s appreciation of their sacrifices.
Aneke gave the commendation on Thursday, August 27, 2026, when he joined other senior military and security leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Presentation of Financial Support to Widows of Fallen Heroes of the Armed Forces and Police.
The initiative, organised by the Office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the RHI Social Investment Programme, provides financial assistance to families of personnel who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
The CAS noted that sustained support for the widows and families of fallen heroes was not only a recognition of the sacrifices made by the deceased personnel but also a demonstration of the country’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of those they left behind.
He commended the initiative and stressed the importance of ensuring that families of personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for the peace, security and stability of Nigeria continue to receive adequate care and support.
The financial support initiative forms part of efforts to provide relief and empowerment for widows of fallen members of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police Force.
