Local vigilantes have successfully repelled a bandit attack on Dogon Kade community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, reportedly killing several armed bandits during the confrontation.
According to local sources, the clash occurred on Tuesday morning when vigilante operatives engaged the attackers in a coordinated response, forcing them to retreat after intense fighting.
The sources said scores of suspected bandits were killed, including Alhaji Tukur, identified as a younger brother of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Shehu Bagiwaye.
Residents commended the local vigilantes for their swift and coordinated action, describing the operation as a significant boost to ongoing community efforts to defend vulnerable areas against recurring bandit attacks.
Authorities are yet to officially confirm the casualty figures or the reported death of Alhaji Tukur at the time of filing this report.
