The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational successes across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) within the last 24 hours, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects, the rescue of 12 kidnapped victims, and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and other incriminating exhibits.
According to the Police Daily Situation Report for Monday, 13 July 2026, the coordinated operations underscore the Force’s sustained commitment to combating violent crime, kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism, impersonation and other criminal activities across the country.
In Niger State, police tactical teams, working alongside local vigilantes, engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun battle at Mangoro Village in Mariga Local Government Area, successfully rescuing 11 kidnapped victims unharmed before reuniting them with their families. In a separate incident, detectives arrested one suspect following a fatal land dispute in Agaie Local Government Area.
In Oyo State, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad rescued a five-year-old child who had been abducted after conducting a technology-driven investigation. Two suspects were arrested and reportedly confessed to demanding a ₦10 million ransom, of which ₦1 million had already been collected. In another operation, police arrested a suspect during a stop-and-search exercise in Ibadan and recovered a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs.
Police in Edo State arrested three suspects linked to the vandalism of telecommunications infrastructure in Benin City. Investigations also connected the suspects to the recovery of a Toyota Yaris vehicle and 12 heavy-duty batteries allegedly stolen during an earlier operation.
In Kano State, credible intelligence led operatives to arrest a suspect allegedly impersonating military personnel. Recovered from him were an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, an additional 29 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, military uniforms, desert boots, suspected fake military identification and other exhibits.
Similarly, operatives in the Federal Capital Territory arrested a suspect in Gwagwalada and recovered a locally fabricated firearm during an intelligence-led operation.
In Gombe State, two suspects were arrested after police intercepted a vehicle conveying two suspected stolen cows. The operation also resulted in the recovery of the vehicle, while investigations continue to apprehend an accomplice who fled the scene.
In Ogun State, detectives arrested four suspects in separate operations involving alleged defilement, criminal impersonation and assault. Military attire used in the impersonation was recovered as exhibits.
Meanwhile, police responded swiftly to violent incidents in Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Akwa Ibom and Bauchi states by deploying tactical teams to affected communities, evacuating casualties, restoring public order and launching investigations aimed at apprehending those responsible.
Overall, the nationwide operations resulted in the arrest of 15 suspects, the recovery of two firearms, 60 rounds of ammunition, two vehicles, and the rescue of 12 kidnapped victims, while investigations remain ongoing in the affected states to ensure all fleeing suspects are apprehended and prosecuted.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing, enhanced collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security operations nationwide.
