The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded another international academic milestone as Group Captain Usman Umar Akeel won the prestigious Best Individual Research Paper Award at the National Security and War Course (NSWC) of the National Defence University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
The award, presented in recognition of exceptional academic excellence, originality, analytical depth and policy relevance, was conferred on the senior Nigerian Air Force officer for his research paper titled, “Drone Swarms and the Future of Aerial Warfare: Tactical Innovation or Battlefield Risk?”
The achievement highlights the growing intellectual and professional reputation of the Nigerian Air Force on the global stage and reflects the Service’s commitment to developing strategic thinkers capable of addressing emerging security challenges.
It also underscores the quality of NAF personnel participating in international military education programmes, where they continue to distinguish themselves through academic excellence and innovative contributions to contemporary defence and security discourse.
The recognition aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to build a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready Air Force through sustained investment in training, education and capacity development.
