The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The extension was announced in a press statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
According to the Commission, the previous deadline of Saturday, July 11, 2026, as contained in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election, has now been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
INEC said the decision followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to complete the upload of their candidates’ names and personal particulars within the stipulated timeframe.
The Commission explained that the extension reflects its commitment to promoting inclusivity in the electoral process while remaining within the provisions of the law.
INEC urged all political parties to utilize the additional time to complete the submission process, warning that all required details must be uploaded before the expiration of the new deadline.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive electoral process ahead of the 2027 General Election.
