The Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund (NPFTF), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, has empowered 100 wives of junior police officers in Delta State with vocational skills and starter kits aimed at promoting economic self-reliance and improving the welfare of police families.
The four-day empowerment programme focused on tailoring and hairdressing, with 79 participants trained in tailoring and 21 in hairdressing. At the end of the training, each beneficiary received a starter kit in her chosen vocation to enable her establish a sustainable source of income.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, at the closing ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, commended the participants for their dedication throughout the programme.
He urged them to make productive use of the skills they had acquired by building successful businesses that would support their families and contribute to their communities. He also encouraged the women to continue praying for and supporting their husbands as they carry out the demanding task of protecting lives and property across the country.
Speaking at the event, the Team Lead of the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund, Mr. Charles Omorogiuwa, described the initiative as part of the Trust Fund’s commitment to improving the welfare of police families through sustainable empowerment programmes.
He disclosed that the programme was implemented under the leadership of the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu, and urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity by establishing themselves in their chosen vocations and becoming financially independent.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund for its sustained investment in the welfare of police families, noting that economic empowerment initiatives complement the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to boost personnel morale and strengthen the resilience of families of officers serving the nation.
The empowerment programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund to enhance the socio-economic well-being of police personnel and their families through practical skills development and entrepreneurship support.
