Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified their offensive against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, recording a series of successes that led to the neutralization of a terrorist, the arrest of nine suspects, and the recovery of several items linked to criminal activities.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 on a fighting patrol to Birnin Tsaba and Tsanu villages in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area on June 5 engaged terrorists at Birnin Tsaba village. Following a firefight, one terrorist was neutralized, while seven motorcycles were recovered from the scene
The statement said troops also responded on June 6 to a terrorist attack at Anguwar Sarkin Musulmi village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. The terrorists fled into the bush upon sighting the troops. Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers had stolen personal belongings from residents before security forces arrived.
Military authorities noted that the incident reflected increasing pressure on terrorist groups as ongoing operations continue to disrupt their logistics and sources of support
In another operation on the same day, troops reacted to reports of an attack on commuters along the Kaura Namoda–Zurmi Road. Investigations showed that terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles between Jabanda and Dauran villages in Zurmi Local Government Area. Troops secured the area, evacuated injured victims for medical treatment, and commenced efforts to track the fleeing terrorists and rescue any abducted passengers.
Also on June 6, troops conducting a fighting patrol in Tudun Wada and Dan Gulbi communities of Maru Local Government Area arrested eight suspected bandits at Tudun Wada. Recovered items included seven motorcycles, communication equipment, mobile phones, power banks, military-style uniforms, and other materials. A structure allegedly used by the suspects was destroyed during the operation.
Meanwhile, intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the suspected recipient of recently intercepted ammunition at Tupa village in Shinkafi Local Government Area on June 5. The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting investigators.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and bandits across the North-West and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing security efforts.
