Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have foiled a terrorist infiltration attempt and arrested several suspected logistics suppliers and collaborators linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, the successes were recorded through a combination of offensive operations, intelligence-led missions, and collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The statement said troops responded swiftly on June 9 to the sighting of terrorists advancing toward the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi. Troops engaged the insurgents with coordinated firepower, neutralizing the threat and preventing the attempted infiltration.
A follow-up exploitation of the area led to the recovery of two terrorist corpses and a motorcycle.
In separate intelligence-driven operations, troops of 25 Brigade Garrison, working alongside the CJTF, arrested two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers identified as Mallam Bako Ibrahim and Abu Aji along the Sierra 4 axis in Damboa.
Similarly, troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, in conjunction with the CJTF, apprehended another suspected logistics supplier, Musa Idi, along the Mandaragirau–Sabon Gari road.
Military authorities said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in supplying logistics to terrorists operating in Damboa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects included 19 wristwatches, a large mat, a transistor radio, two cartons of agro-allied chemicals, and other materials allegedly intended for terrorist use.
In another operation, combined troops of Sector 2 and the CJTF arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Adams Shittima, in Damboa town while allegedly attempting to procure farm implements and mosquito nets for terrorist elements.
The military disclosed that the suspect confessed during preliminary interrogation to providing logistics support and information to terrorists operating within the area.
Operation HADIN KAI said sustained military pressure on terrorist hideouts continues to weaken insurgent networks and force members to abandon criminal activities.
The military high command commended troops for their professionalism, vigilance, and resilience, stressing that the recent successes underscore the resolve of Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist support structures, deny insurgents freedom of action, and restore lasting peace and security across the North-East.
