Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered two AK-47 rifles during a targeted security operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told journalists on Friday that the suspects were apprehended during an ongoing operation conducted ahead of Magumeri town as part of intensified efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
According to the sources, troops recovered two AK-47 assault rifles believed to have been used by the suspects in carrying out kidnapping and other criminal operations within the locality.
Preliminary investigations have reportedly yielded valuable intelligence that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending other members of the criminal network.
“The suspects have provided useful information that can aid further operations and lead to the arrest of additional members of the criminal syndicate,” one of the sources disclosed.
The operation forms part of sustained military efforts to dismantle kidnapping rings and other criminal groups operating in parts of Borno State and the wider North-East region.
Military authorities believe the intelligence obtained from the suspects could support ongoing operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks and improving security in vulnerable communities.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the operation. However, investigations and follow-up actions are said to be ongoing.
