Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have arrested a suspected collaborator of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources said the suspect, identified as Alhaji Shuaibu Saidu, also known as “Jangal”, was apprehended on June 19 following intelligence reports linking him to terrorist activities.

The sources disclosed that the 42-year-old suspect was arrested by intelligence operatives of the 231 Tank Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment during an operation conducted within Biu town.

According to the sources, the arrest was based on actionable intelligence regarding his alleged collaboration with insurgent groups operating in the North-East.

The suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further investigation.

Security authorities said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to dismantle terrorist support networks and deny insurgents access to local collaborators.

The sources added that the overall security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops continued to maintain a high level of operational readiness.

Operation Hadin Kai has intensified intelligence-driven operations in recent months, leading to the arrest of suspected collaborators, logistics suppliers and informants linked to terrorist groups in the North-East
