Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar Buried in Katsina

The remains of former Defence Headquarters spokesperson, Major General Rabe Abubakar (Rtd), have been laid to rest at Gidandawa Cemetery in Katsina metropolis following his death while in captivity after being abducted by terrorists.


The late senior military officer was reportedly kidnapped by terrorists and died during captivity. His body was released by the abductors on Friday afternoon and subsequently conveyed to Katsina for burial.


The funeral prayer, led by Imam Kabir, attracted hundreds of mourners, including family members, friends, sympathisers, and associates who gathered to pay their final respects to the deceased.


Representing the Katsina State Government at the burial was the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Faruk Lawal Jobe, who led a delegation of government officials to the funeral ceremony.


Also present were senior military officers from the 35 Battalion, Natsinta Barracks, Katsina, alongside other serving and retired security personnel.


Following the interment, a special prayer session was held at the Sa’ad ibn Abi Waqqas Mosque, where worshippers offered prayers for Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and eternal rest for the late General.


Major General Abubakar served Nigeria in various capacities throughout his distinguished military career and was widely recognised for his role as spokesperson for the Defence Headquarters, where he played a key role in communicating military operations and security developments to the public.


His death has continued to draw tributes and condolences from military authorities, government officials, colleagues, and Nigerians across the country, who have described him as a dedicated officer and patriot who served the nation with honour and commitment.
