The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful rescue of a woman, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, on June 3, 2026.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the victims were rescued during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on June 6.
According to the police, Mrs. Adegoke and her children were kidnapped while she was driving them to school at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3.
The statement said the rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations that enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and locate their hideout.
Police operatives subsequently engaged the suspects in a confrontation, during which two alleged kidnappers were fatally wounded. Two rifles were also recovered from the suspects.
The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the courage, professionalism, and dedication of the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation, noting that their resilience was instrumental in securing the safe release of the hostages.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled the scene. Preliminary intelligence indicates that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.
The police said ongoing operations are aimed at tracking down and arresting all individuals connected to the abduction.
The Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation, support, and patience throughout the operation, reiterating its commitment to combating violent crimes, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
