Operation Hadin Kai Forces Top ISWAP Leaders to Surrender as 76 Terrorists Lay Down Arms

The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded another significant breakthrough in its counter-terrorism campaign, with several top leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendering to troops following sustained military operations across the North-East.

The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Sunday.

According to him, the senior terrorist leaders abandoned their enclaves and surrendered to troops due to sustained military pressure backed by credible, timely and actionable intelligence.

He said the surrendered individuals are currently being held at a secure location where they are undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.

Captain Goni noted that the latest development underscores the effectiveness of the intensified offensive by Operation HADIN KAI, which has continued to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt command and logistics networks, and deny Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters freedom of movement across the theatre of operations.

He further disclosed that the sustained military pressure has significantly weakened the combat capabilities of the terrorist groups while eroding confidence within their leadership and ranks.

According to the statement, within the last one week alone, 76 terrorist foot soldiers, alongside some of their family members, surrendered to troops operating in the North-East.

The military described the development as further evidence of the effectiveness of its comprehensive counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency strategy, which combines precision combat operations, intelligence-led engagements and coordinated joint operations with relevant partners.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive until all remaining terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender, with the ultimate goal of restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
