Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central under Operation Savannah Shield have rescued two kidnap victims in Kwara State following a successful operation aimed at combating criminal activities in the region.

The rescue occurred on June 3, 2026, during a fighting patrol conducted by troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango to Gidan Dogo Ekaa. According to military authorities, the troops encountered two civilians who had escaped from their kidnappers and immediately secured them.

The victims, identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani, were taken into protective custody and evacuated to Patrol Base Babanla for medical attention and other necessary support.

Military sources said the rescued men are receiving medical care, psychological support, and welfare assistance, while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.

The operation is part of ongoing intelligence-led security efforts under Operation Savannah Shield, which is focused on tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities across the North Central region.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained operations and commended the troops involved for their bravery and professionalism.

The Army also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to enhance security and maintain peace in vulnerable communities.
