The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, has charged senior officers of the command to intensify proactive policing and strengthen intelligence gathering as part of efforts to sustain security across the state.
The directive was given during a strategic security meeting convened by the police commissioner with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Commanders of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Tactical Commanders to review the security situation and enhance operational readiness.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, CP Fatai urged commanders to remain vigilant, committed and responsive to emerging security threats within their respective areas of responsibility.
He emphasised the importance of sustained intelligence gathering, effective supervision of personnel and prompt responses to security challenges, while calling on officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure the same is reflected among personnel under their command.
The meeting also witnessed a major boost to the command’s operational capacity as the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) donated 200 bulletproof helmets and 200 bulletproof vests to support policing activities across the state.
The protective equipment was formally presented to the police commissioner by the Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the resources needed to effectively safeguard lives and property.
Speaking after receiving the equipment, CP Fatai expressed appreciation to the LSSTF for its continued partnership and support in strengthening security infrastructure and enhancing the welfare and safety of police personnel.
He noted that the donation would improve operational effectiveness while boosting the morale and confidence of officers deployed for frontline policing duties and other critical security operations.
The commissioner also commended residents of Lagos State for their cooperation and support in maintaining peace and security, acknowledging the role of the public in providing valuable information that has contributed to the command’s operational successes.
He called for greater collaboration between the police and members of the public as the command intensifies efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents and visitors across the state.
CP Fatai further urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and security.
