The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has said while congratulating cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, for emerging winners of the Debate Competition at the 2026 RIL Campus Crown Awards.
The cadets outperformed participants from various tertiary institutions across Kano State, showcasing exceptional analytical reasoning, eloquence, and public speaking skills to clinch the coveted trophy in the highly competitive contest.
He congratulated cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy for emerging winners of the Debate Competition at the 2026 RIL Campus Crown Awards.
According to a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the Police Academy cadets outperformed participants from various tertiary institutions across Kano State to clinch the coveted title.
The RIL Campus Crown Awards is a youth-focused initiative that provides students with opportunities to showcase their talents through leadership debates, sporting activities and other developmental programmes aimed at promoting critical thinking, teamwork and responsible citizenship.
In the highly competitive debate, the Police Academy team distinguished itself through outstanding intellectual ability, eloquence, analytical reasoning and public speaking skills, securing victory against contestants from universities and other higher institutions in the state.
The IGP described the achievement as evidence of the effectiveness of the Academy’s academic and leadership development programmes, stressing that intellectual excellence is an essential component of modern policing.
He commended the cadets for serving as worthy ambassadors of both the institution and the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to maintain the values of excellence, discipline and professionalism.
Speaking while receiving the victorious team, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Patrick A. Atayero, praised the cadets for bringing honour to the institution.
Atayero said the victory reflected the Academy’s commitment to producing well-rounded police officers equipped with professional competence, leadership qualities and intellectual capacity to effectively serve the nation.
He encouraged other cadets to strive for excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities, assuring them of the Academy’s continued support in developing their talents and leadership potential.
The Commandant also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the Academy’s vision of becoming a world-class institution dedicated to professional policing, leadership development and academic excellence.
The IGP further congratulated the Academy’s management, staff and cadets on the achievement and expressed confidence in their continued success in future competitions.
He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening educational and leadership development initiatives within its institutions as part of efforts to build a professional, knowledge-driven and service-oriented police force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
